3Sirens is a continuously and ever fluid developing idea that Doug and I began to dream long ago.  It is in many ways a piece of nostalgia and in others a hope for the future.  As kids growing up together in the Jersey suburbs, we took a lot of exploratory drugs and made a lot of music.  These childhood days coming of age in New Jersey really formed who we have become and informed our vision for 3Sirens.  Back then, it was about sitting in a circle with friends and making music.  Everyone could pick up some instrument and contribute.  Around campfires or just in my parent’s basement on Millstream Rd.  Doug and I did everything together and we always gravitated towards like-minded artistic souls.  It didn’t matter who was the best at the guitar or the best singer, everyone was like a different paint color and together we mixed up something unique.  Each color of paint contributed to the specific sound of that specific jam session.

As we grew up and tapped into the music industry we lost that feeling of community in art.  It became about, “making it,” and being great.  We also literally lost community.  We would be on the road for weeks if not months at a time and we would lose those important connections and relationships.  Like all musicians, the road is home but it also makes you lose sight of what home really is and those who really matter to you.

3Sirens has been a long time in the making and it will continue to grow and build community.  We have created a space, (not unlike my parent’s basement in New Jersey - though much cooler) to gather.  A space to think, a space to dream, a space to write, a space to sing and play, a space to share ideas and a space to explore.  We want to welcome people to this magical spot who wish to shed the confines of expectations and competition.  We want this to be a place for art, all kinds of art.

As kids we longed for the 1960’s when musicians would gather in New York’s Greenwich Village and work together to inspire and move one another.  We used to sneak into those clubs as teenagers and soak up the energy and the echoes of those beautiful minds and that utopian artistic society.  We read books and obsessed about Gertrude Stein and Hemingway in 1920’s Paris.  The friendships, the exchange, the comradery.  As adults, we wanted to stop living for the nostalgia and start building a present day utopian artistic space.

3Sirens is just beginning.  Our hope is that the unexpected and uninhibited artists of today can find a home here.
